For the most part, all the important free agent moves are done with and Pro Days are complete. All that is left are some individual team workouts and the speculating over the next 2 weeks. So here’s my new thoughts on potential picks after some altering from my first mock draft. The first 3 picks i think are still pretty much locked in but after that it gets interesting. Here we go
1. Indianapolis Colts-Andrew Luck,QB.
.Washington Redskins- Robert Griffin III, QB
.Minnesota Vikings- Matt Kalil- OT
.Cleveland Browns- Trent Richardson, RB. My pick stays the same as the Browns never made a serious run at Matt Flynn.
.Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Morris Claiborne,CB. My pick stays the same as they hope Richardson falls to them.
.St. Louis Rams- Justin Blackmon,WR. My pick stays the same as before.Sam Bradford FINALLY has a weapon to throw to.
.Jacksonville Jaguars- Melvin Ingram, DE. You never quite know what the Jaguars are going to do. I think they go for a pass rusher and Ingram has been mentioned as the best around.
.Miami Dolphins- Ryan Tannehill, QB. Miami lost out on Manning and Flynn and are forced to overdraft for a QB just like the Titans and Vikings did last year for Jake Locker and Christian Ponder.
.Carolina Panthers- Dontari Poe, DT. Poe has been mentioned as possibly dropping in the draft but i don’t believe the hype and think he still is drafted at 9.
.Buffalo Bills- Riley Reiff, OT. I previously had Ingram here but I don’t expect him to last until 10 so the Bills choose between Reiff and Michael Floyd and since they just lost their LT, I think they go with the best OT on the board at this spot.
.Kansas City Chiefs- Luke Kuechly, ILB. New Coach Romeo Crennel breaks the hearts of Seahawks fans and take the best ILB on the board. Chiefs could also look at DeCastro at this pick.
.Seattle Seahawks- Quinten Coples, DE. Coples has dropped lately because of tapes that show that he doesn’t always bring it on every play. Watching Chris Clemons bring it on every play will motivate him to play well. In my opinion, I think if Kuechly is not here at this point, that the Seahawks will trade down to the late teens or 20-22 range.
.Arizona Cardinals- Michael Floyd,WR. The Cardinals get a WR to take the double teams off of Fitzgerald.
14. Dallas Cowboys- Mark Barron, SS. Cowboys get the best Safety in the draft to try and help a horrid secondary.
.Philadelphia Eagles- Fletcher Cox, DT. My pick stays the same as a month ago. Andy Reid always loves drafting fat guys in the 1st round, whether its for offense or defense.
.New York Jets- Courtney Upshaw, OLB. The Jets miss out on Barron and Floyd, so they’re forced to lean towards a different need and get a pass rusher finally.
.Cincinnati Bengals- David DeCastro, OG. If DeCastro falls to the Bengals at 17 , then you can bet that they’ll be sprinting the pick up to the podium.
.San Diego Chargers-Whitney Mercilus, DE. Chargers get the pass rusher that they haven’t had since Shawne Merriman left.
.Chicago Bears-Johnathon Martin, OT. Bears have to find a way to keep Jay Cutler upright. Would fit nicely with Gabe Carimi on the other side.
.Tennesse Titans- Dre Kirkpatrick, CB. A player with a checkered past? Yes. But probably the best cover corner in the draft.
.Cincinnati Bengals-Stephon Gilmore, CB. Bengals take care of their top 2 glaring needs with their first 2 picks. A road-grading offensive lineman and a cover corner to replace Johnathon Joseph from last year.
.Cleveland Browns- Cordy Glenn, OG/OT. Browns get their RB at #4 and pick a versatile top notch O-Lineman to make holes for him.
.Detroit Lions- Chandler Jones, DE. Lions will hope that one of the CB’s fall to them because with their past troubles they won’t be touching the oft-troubled Janoris Jenkins.
.Pittsburgh Steelers- Donta’ Hightower, ILB. A perfect Steeler pick. Tough, hard-nosed punishing linebacker.
.Denver Broncos- Michael Brockers, DT. Last time i didn’t have Brockers in the 1st round because he timed so poorly at the Combine but he improved at his Pro Day and moves back in my 1st round.
.Houston Texans- Kendall Wright, WR. Texans find someone that can help when Andre Johnson gets his usual nagging injury of some sort.
.New England Patriots- Nick Perry, DE. The Patriots were horrible on D last year in every form and you have to think they will draft heavy with their 2 first round picks.
.Green Bay Packers- Shea McClellin, OLB. Packers werent in the Super Bowl because they couldnt find someone other than Clay Mathews to rush the QB.
.Baltimore Ravens- Peter Konz, C. Ravens find their replacement for Matt Birk once he chooses to retire.
.San Francisco 49ers- Stephen Hill, WR. Sure the 49ers picked up Randy Moss and Mario Manningham in free agency, but what can they expect from Moss and will Kyle Williams be able to bounce back from his epic mistakes?
.New England Patriots- Kendall Reyes, DT. Reyes will be able to work out at the end in the 3-4 scheme that Belichek runs.
.New York Giants- Coby Fleener, TE. Fleener gives the Giants the TE that can stretch the field. Jake Ballard caught the ball well but was basically a glorifed Tackle running routes out there with how slow he was.
I’ll revise my picks a couple days before the draft.
