Quinton Coples is known for intense football and big plays. But he’s facing the ultimate test, like many did before him – the NFL Draft. The experts certainly know whether or not he’s one of the top picks in the 2012 NFL Draft.
But lets break down his Strengths, Weaknesses and so on here, and see where he might end up!
- consistent, but not that good Pass Rusher
- Good Bull Rush Move
- Long Arms
- Physical Strength
- Sure tackler
- Utilizes long arms to strip the ball out
- Overpowers ballcarriers
- Easily keeps OT’s off balance
- Lacks pass rush moves
- Lacks necessary athleticism
- Needs to get off the snap quicker
- Inconsistent throughout long stretches in a game
- Isnt that quick
Quinton Coples is a very talented Defensive End, but he easily gets off track and has inconsistent stretches on the field. He’s not going to be a good pass rusher at the next level, lacking the skills and techniques for that. An NFL Offensive Lineman will easily overpower him, not only because he lacks the technique, but also because he’s not very quick to get off the snap. Coples will need alot of coaching to become a consistently good NFL Defensive End, but his dominating traits will definitly help him there.
Coples will fit best in a 4-3 defensive scheme. He’s got a fair chance against an OT in the NFL, but has no chance against a possible double team as it could happen in a 3-4 scheme. Quinton Coples is not expected to be a starter right away, his NFL team’s coaching staff will have to do some work with him first. I expect him to be a mid First Round Pick
