OLB Bruce Irvin, who ran a 4.45 at the combine, broke another personal speed record by signing a deal with the Seattle Seahawks today, after only a few weeks.
The ‘Hawks have also agreed to terms with seven of their nine draft picks according to Seahawks.com.
Bruce Irvin, Bobby Wagner, Russell Wilson, Korey Toomer, Jeremy Lane, Winston Guy, and Greg Scruggs all were signed before the minicamp takes place this weekend. That leaves the RB Robert Turbin, and DT Jaye Howard, both from the fourth round, as the only two draftees that have yet to sign.
Irvin, the 15th selection overall, was the first to sign from the players drafted in the first round. His speed and athleticism is expected to make a big impact for the Seahawks this year.
“I’m just ready to work, the money is cool. If you took the money away, I still would play this game for free!” tweeted Irvin earlier today.
Players being signed this early makes a huge impact for a team, and for the players as well. It allows players to focus on getting acclimated to the speed of the NFL, and the methods on how each team is run. It also allows the team to get acquainted with each other, allowing for more comfortability and trust between players.
