Apparently former Pro Bowl Guard Steve Hutchinson has been reported as to being at the Seahawks Headquarters yesterday for a meeting with the Seahawks brass. Is it just a coincidence that Robert Gallery was released yesterday? Granted, the current Steve Hutchinson is not the one we knew 7 years ago when Tim Ruskell botched the Transition Tag and let Hutch sign with the Minnesota Vikings in 2005. Hutch has multiple small injuries and continuous shoulder problems. With that being said, Hutch STILL graded out as one of the best Guards in 2011 according to Pro Football Focus grading.
An addition of Hutchinson to the Seahawks Offensive Line would be an upgrade to what we had. Robert Gallery was hardly on the field due to injuries and when you add Hutch, you add someone who can show the youngsters on the line how to be a Pro Bowl caliber linemen. Plus, he deserves the chance to finish his career in the Seahawks uniform. Say what you will about him when he left and why he left, but he was still an integral part of the success the Seahawks had plowing lanes for Shaun Alexander. How many years did Seahawks fan contemplate : How good would we have been had we just signed and took care of Hutch in 2005? I know Adrian Peterson is arguably the best Running Back in the league right now but don’t you think some of that has to be credited to the road-grading of Steve Hutchinson?
On a side note, lets all bid farewell to John Carlson. He signed with the aforementioned Minnesota Vikings yesterday. I feel sort of bad for Carlson. He showed promise at times, and he was the Anti- Jeremy Stevens but when our Offensive Line was putrid Carlson was asked to help out a lot and his pass-catching skills weren’t utilized. Although lets all admit, when he did get out open he had some bad drops that reminded us all of Jeremy Stevens. Good luck John Carlson!
